Rent or buy?

Compare a rental quote with a purchase quote for the time you expect to need the equipment. You supply the prices; we do the arithmetic and show it.

Hands comparing two quotes with a calculator
Renting

From the rental quote you were given.

Delivery, setup or pickup charges, and any deposit you won't get back.

Buying

From the purchase quote you were given.

Delivery, setup or accessories the quote doesn't include.

Your comparison

Enter your quotes to compare. Needed: rental price, how long you expect to need it, purchase price.

What this doesn't include

Insurance or Medicare payments, repairs, what you might get back by selling later, and taxes. If you use Medicare, ask the supplier how your item is handled: Medicare rents some equipment, buys some, and lets you choose for others (Medicare.gov). Renting vs buying a scooter

Common questions

Where do the prices come from?

From you. Ask a supplier for a rental quote and a purchase quote for the same item, and enter them here. The calculator has no built-in prices.

How does it handle weeks and months?

If the rental is priced per week and you enter months (or the other way round), it converts using 52 weeks ÷ 12 months, about 4.33 weeks per month, and shows that step.

Does it include Medicare or insurance?

No. Coverage depends on your plan and the item. Ask the supplier how your insurance or Medicare would pay, then compare what you would actually pay.

Is what I type saved anywhere?

No. The numbers stay in this page in your browser. They aren't saved, added to the page address or sent to us.
